Donor Spotlight: Dr. Alison Bomba

Meet Dr. Alison Bomba — a longtime friend, advocate, and supporter of the Mental Health Association of Frederick County. Alison is a licensed psychologist who helps children and young adults ages 3–25 navigate life’s challenges with compassion and confidence. In her downtown Frederick practice, she provides therapy for grief, anxiety, and OCD, helping young people build resilience and learn healthy ways to cope.

Alison first got involved with MHA back in 2016, not long after moving her practice to Frederick. She jumped right in—joining the Development and Marketing Committee, later serving six years on the Board of Directors, and even leading as Board President from 2019 to 2020. Her thoughtful leadership and warm energy made a real difference, especially during some uniquely challenging times.

When asked why MHA matters to her, Alison doesn’t hesitate: “No other organization in our community provides the critical services that MHA does.” She often refers clients to MHA’s Walk-In Crisis Care Center, which she sees as a vital and accessible option for people in crisis—no appointment, no barriers.

Outside of her practice, Alison stays busy giving back to the community she loves. She’s a proud member of the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, serves on the Frederick Health Hospice Board, and volunteers as the “camp psychologist” for Camp Jamie, a program supporting grieving children. She also helped co-lead The Real Change Initiative, a campaign that spread mental health awareness throughout Frederick.

We’re so thankful for Alison’s dedication and heart for service. Her support helps MHA continue offering hope, healing, and connection to everyone who needs it in our community.
