The Mental Health Association of Frederick County Announces Appointment of Interim CEO

The Mental Health Association of Frederick County (MHA), a trusted mental health nonprofit serving the Frederick community and beyond for over 60 years, announces the appointment of Suzi Borg as Interim Chief Executive Officer. This leadership transition reflects the Board of Directors’ commitment to ensuring stability and continuity as the organization begins the search for a permanent CEO.

“The Board is confident in Suzi’s leadership as we navigate this important moment for the organization,” said Danielle Doll, President of the Board of Directors. “Her experience, unwavering commitment to MHA and deep commitment to the Frederick community make her well-suited to lead with both understanding and stability. We are grateful for her leadership and steady presence.”

Borg, a trusted member of the MHA team for more than 25 years, is a passionate and empathetic leader with over two decades of experience in mental health advocacy, community engagement, and program development. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from Liberty University and has devoted her career to championing mental health equity while fostering a culture of compassion and inclusion.

In her current role as Chief Program Officer, Borg has provided strategic leadership for critical crisis services, including the 24-hour call center, the Walk-In Crisis Care Center, and MHA’s outpatient mental health clinic. Her leadership has strengthened MHA’s capacity to meet urgent needs while ensuring access to care for the most vulnerable members of the community.

In addition to her work at MHA, Borg has made meaningful contributions to education and community initiatives. For more than 15 years, she served as an Adjunct Faculty member at Frederick Community College, where she taught foundational courses in the Social Sciences. She has also held leadership roles at both the state and local levels, further demonstrating her commitment to strengthening the community.

“I am honored to step into the role of Interim CEO during this important transition,” said Borg. “MHA has an exceptional team, and I am committed to supporting them as we continue to provide life-changing programs and services. Together, we will uphold MHA’s mission and ensure our community has access to the support it needs.”

MHA remains grounded in its mission to build a strong foundation of emotional wellness for the whole community by preparing resilient children, securing vulnerable families, and standing with individuals to face crises together.

As the organization moves forward, the Board of Directors reaffirms its commitment to supporting our dedicated staff and the community we serve.
