Mental Health Association of Frederick County Names Suzi Borg Chief Executive Officer

The Mental Health Association of Frederick County (MHA), a trusted mental health nonprofit serving the Frederick community and beyond for more than 60 years, is proud to announce the appointment of Suzi Borg as Chief Executive Officer.

Following a period of steady and effective leadership as Interim CEO, Borg’s appointment reflects the Board of Directors’ confidence in her vision, experience, and deep commitment to MHA’s mission and the community it serves.

“We are thrilled to have Suzi at the helm as MHA’s CEO,” said Danielle Doll, President of the Board of Directors. “She brings deep knowledge of the organization and an unmistakable passion for the mission. Throughout her service, she has displayed steadfast leadership and visible care for staff and the communities at the heart of the mission. We are excited for the future under her leadership and are so grateful to have her leading MHA.”

Borg has been a trusted and respected member of the MHA team for more than 25 years. A passionate and empathetic leader, she brings over two decades of experience in mental health advocacy, community engagement, and program development. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from Liberty University and has devoted her career to championing access to care while fostering a culture of compassion and inclusion.

Before serving as Interim CEO, Borg held the role of Chief Program Officer, where she provided strategic leadership for MHA’s critical crisis services, including the 24-hour Call Center, the Walk-In Crisis Care Center, and MHA’s outpatient mental health clinic. Under her leadership, these programs have continued to expand access to timely, life-saving support for individuals and families experiencing crisis.

During her tenure as Interim CEO, Borg secured a new Mobile Crisis Services program, expanding MHA’s ability to meet individuals where they are and respond rapidly to urgent mental health needs in the community. She also led the development of a forward-facing Data Dashboard using Call Center data, increasing transparency and sharing critical insights with the community to understand local mental health trends and needs better.

“I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to lead MHA alongside our amazing staff,” Borg stated. “We believe there are great things ahead for MHA as we continue to build upon the legacy that began over sixty years ago.” The Board of Directors reaffirms its commitment to supporting MHA’s leadership, staff, and community as the organization moves forward under Borg’s guidance.

MHA is committed to building a strong foundation of emotional wellness for the whole community by preparing resilient children, securing vulnerable families, and standing with individuals to face crises together.
