building resilient families
The Building Resilient Families program is a case management and resource coordination program that works to support parents and help build resiliency, stability, and self-sufficiency for families impacted by incarceration, substance use disorder, or involvement in the child welfare system.
We offer:
- Family Advocacy – The Family Advocate meets with either the individual family member or the entire family once a week in a setting preferred by the participant. The Family Advocate can meet the participant in the home, in the community, at the MHA office, or through a video conference format (Zoom or Microsoft Teams). The Family Advocate and the participant work together to create goals based on the family’s needs, The Family Advocate will connect the family to the appropriate resources to best achieve the participants’ goals.
- Parent Mentor – The Parent Mentor offers group facilitation for participants of the Family Advocacy program. Group facilitation offers support to complete the goals that the participant and the client create together. The Parent Mentor will also touch on these specific subjects during group facilitation: Protective Factors, Grief/Loss, Self-Esteem, and Bonding from Afar.
Building Resilient Families offers a step-down program:
- Starts weekly
- After 3 goals are completed, the participant can meet with the Family Advocate on a bi-weekly basis
- After 3 more goals are completed, the participant can graduate from the program or meet with the Family Advocate monthly
Participants must be Frederick County residents to be eligible for the program.
If you know of a family who might benefit from this program, contact 301.663.0011 to set up an intake.
