Healthy Families Frederick County, an affiliate of Healthy Families America, which is one of the leading family support and evidence-based home visiting programs in the United States. Healthy Families is an accredited voluntary home visiting program designed to support first–time parents by providing quality, strength-based, family-centered services and support, and access to community agencies resources to help build stronger families, healthier children, and a better community at no cost to families. There are no income or insurance requirements. Once services begin families can continue in the program until their child is 5 years old.
Specially trained Family Support Specialist will meet their families in their homes and help first time moms give their child the best possible start, by providing coaching and information related to:
- Healthy child development
- Positive Parenting using “Growing Great Kids” and “Partners for Healthy Babies” curriculum
- Strengthening Family Life
- Establishing Individual and Family Goals
- Parent-child Bonding and Communication
- Identification of Medical Providers
- Well-baby Medical Care and Immunizations
- Community Resources to assist with family’s needs
How can I become a Healthy Families participant?
- Be a first time mom who is pregnant or has a newborn less than three months old
- Be a Frederick County resident
How can I refer a new or prenatal mom to the program?
