Mental Health Association Announces the Addition of Psychiatric Services

Dr. Verma is a board-certified psychiatrist who completed her General Psychiatry Residency at Michigan State University and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. More recently, Dr. Verma has served in private practice and as Attending Psychiatrist at The Jefferson School, a special education day and residential school, serving students ages 12 to 21 with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities.

Clinical Director Ellie Bentz, LCSW-C says she is very pleased to begin offering this new service to the Frederick community. “Bringing Dr. Verma on staff allows us to offer psychiatric services to Frederick where there has historically been a shortage of psychiatric availability. The outcome is that we are getting closer to achieving our goal of preparing resilient children, serving vulnerable families and facing crises together,” says Bentz.

Dr. Verma specializes in children and adolescent psychiatry but will serve other needs as well. In order to see Dr. Verma, clients will need an appointment with one of our therapists beforehand. Appointments are being scheduled starting October 6th and can be made by calling 301-663-6135.  She will accept Medicaid and Medicare and some sliding scale clients (determined by family size and household income). Private, commercial insurance is not accepted.
