Have You Lost Someone To Suicide?

If you have lost a loved one to suicide, you are a suicide survivor. It is difficult to know the number of people directly affected by every suicide, but is it estimated that there are 4.5 million Americans who are suicide survivors. You are not alone.

It is common for suicide survivors to experience severe grief, guilt, anger, depression, forgetfulness, and even thoughts of suicide themselves. You may even experience physical symptoms such as headaches, loss of appetite and the inability to sleep. It is also common for survivors to want to meet others who have been through a similar experience. Survivors of Suicide Support Groups are a way to share your loss with others and receive support from those who have been there.

The goal of the Mental Health Association’s Survivors of Suicide Support Group is to bring together people who have suffered similar losses. The Survivors of Suicide Support Group provides a safe place where you can share experiences and support each other on the journey toward healing. If you are interested in finding out more about the Survivors of Suicide Support Group, or are interested in attending, please call the Hotline Program Director  at 301-663-0011 ext. 122.
